On 1st April, 1915, 1st Royal Scots Fusiliers of 9 Brigade (which at the time had been temporarily attached to 28th Division from 3rd Division) moved into the front line north of the canal at Ypres where they remained until relieved on 3rd April. William Kilby was killed on 3rd April when one of the battalion’s trenches was shelled in the afternoon. |
